Zoe Dehline
Zoe Paradine Dehline grew up doing (almost) only ballet, in a small town in the valley of Mount Rainier (WA). They discovered modern dance primarily through their experience at Summer Dance Lab in Walla Walla as a young teen. Zoe had always felt like ballet wasn’t the only thing out there for them, so when they discovered modern, something clicked. Zoe has been curiously pursuing modern, contemporary, and other styles ever since.
Zoe moved to Missoula in 2021, and began studying Dance at the University of Montana (UM). Zoe worked with fantastic artists while studying, like Ishmael Houston Jones, who inspired and furthered their interest in improvisation. Zoe also choreographed two large works while at the University, “20 (or more) Questions,” and “Dirty.” After the piece’s debut in Dance Underground 2021, “20 (or more) Questions” was performed at the American College Dance Association (ACDA) in the spring of 2022.
Since taking a break from the University, Zoe has performed in several other shows in town, including with KCD! Zoe was a proud member of two major KCD productions; “Where Did They All Go?” and “Muse.” Zoe has also performed around town in pop up shows, with KCD and others. They were most recently in “Okay, Go!” as a part of West Fest.
Zoe is now a multidisciplinary artist in Missoula, aiming to collaborate on and create work rooted deeply in the human experience, which makes them beyond excited to be joining Kinetic Convergence for a full year as a company member.
As an artist, they are interested in language, sexuality, desire, memory, and how these things drive our movement and everyday life. Zoe is happiest upside down, having floor time, or spending time with friends. When they are not sliding around on the studio floor, they enjoy reading, roller skating, crochet, and slinging lattes at their barista job downtown.
